Whether you’re a crew of ten or a party of two, I’ll help you create a tailor-made tour that will linger with you for a lifetime. Abundant opportunities to stop for photos, nature walks, and swimming. Some of the most breathtaking parts of the island include:

Hana

Also known as “The Heart of Old Hawai‘i,” Hana isn’t just a destination: it’s an experience. Its winding road—a jaw-dropping path that includes 59 bridges, 620 curves, and countless hairpin turns—is rich with greenery, waterfalls, and staggering ocean views. I’ll take you to its most glorious spots, including Waianapapa State Park.

Like stepping back in time

Kahakuloa

An isolated village. A stunning bay. An art gallery that redefines “one-of-a-kind.” The best banana bread in the islands: Kahakuloa is on few visitors’ agendas, which only adds to its allure. I usually follow my Kahakuloa tour with snorkeling at Honolua Bay—home to several annual surf competitions, including “Legends of the Bay”—along with lunch at one of Lahaina’s cafés.

Peaceful and magical Kahakuloa

Aloha! I’m Kimo Rice—an experienced tour guide, dedicated father, and lover of all things Hawai’i.

I was born and raised in Haleiwa on Oahu’s North Shore, where I honed my love of surfing and the great outdoors. I moved to Maui in 1987 and have given tours for 17 years. Few things give me more pleasure than showing tourists and newcomers the island—a place I know like the back of my hand. My in-depth knowledge of Maui’s flora, fauna, and history, coupled with my unending sense of humor, seems to bring just as much delight to everyone I meet.

Chance ‘Um We Go was built on my belief that a surface understanding of Maui’s beauty robs people of the joy of knowing what the island is really about: Aloha (love, compassion, and mercy; Pono (harmony); Malama ‘aina (taking care of the land); Ho’oponopono (forgiveness), and Maluhia (serenity). My tours are designed to give visitors a deeper understanding of this magic, as well as the island’s rich past. But that doesn’t mean my tours are anything short of pure fun! Whether you want a day filled with beach yoga, a surf lesson, and a tour of the island’s farms—or a sunset tour of our largest volcano, Haleakala—you’re bound to leave Maui with a smile on your face.

Why the name Chance ‘Um, you ask? It’s Hawaiian Pidgin for go for it. As an avid mountain biker and big-wave surfer, I have a penchant for an adrenaline-pumping good time—and I’d love to show you the same!
